No Surgery

Isaac has been denied again for a second cochlear implant. We will not have surgery on April 7th. Apparently, Amerihealth Mercy says that Isaac has made too much progress with the first implant to justify the cost of a second one. We are working with the Let Them Hear Foundation. I am pretty sad about the whole thing. Maybe if we had a different insurance provider this wouldn't be happening. I have definately shed more tears over this than I ever thought I would. Unfortunately for us, we are the first ones confronting our insurance companies with this request and are willing to appeal their decision. I know that God is in our corner. I know that His Will will be done, but sometimes it is hard to find the comfort in it all.

More problems with insurance

I have some depressing news. Isaac's 2nd cochlear implant surgery is scheduled for April 7th. Just today, I got a phone call from the insurance coordinator at CHOP. She said that our primary insurance will not cover a 2nd implant, so we have to rely on the secondary insurance (medical assistance). Apparently Amerihealth Mercy knows that we switched from Gateway (who denied the 2nd implant). They told CHOP that it doesn't matter that they have covered bi-laterals in the past, that PA state medical assistance does not cover bi-laterals no matter who the insurance provider is. I thought this whole mess was taken care of in December. Now we have eleven days to figure this whole thing out. I have come to the conclusion that I need to give it to God. He is in control anyways. This whole situation is dis-heartening. I feel like we are the only family that is going through this insurance battle. Please pray for us.

Isaac Singing Happy Birthday

I am trying to post video of Isaac singing Happy Birthday. In the video, he is actually more interested in playing with his new toy than looking at the camera. I had to catch him mid-play to record him singing to his toy. I hope this works. In the past my attempts at posting video have failed. If not, I will delete the post.

Isaac's 3rd Birthday Party

Isaac's birthday is actually on Monday, March 17th (Yes...St. Patty's Day). We had his party on Saturday, March 15th at Grandpa and Granny's house. It was a really fun party. Granny and Isaac made a home-made pinata a few weeks ago that was a huge "hit" at the party. Isaac's friends loved it because, unlike the store bought kind, it broke rather easily for younger kids. Plus it was shaped like a car and painted Isaac's favorite color these days, green. It had the number "3" on the doors and the licence plate said, "Isaac." Granny is so creative! Our closest friends came to the party and everyone left stuffed with pizza, crab dip, chips, pretzels, cake and ice cream....not to mention pinata candy. Isaac got some really cool gifts this year including a tent in the shape of a fire truck (thank you Aunt Lydia and Uncle Mike}, pop up books, a bubble blowing lion, Scooby Doo and Spongebob DVD's, clothes, cars, a bike helmet, a gift certificate to Tumbletown and some money. Both Isaac and Noah were completely exhausted by the end of the day. Both of them fell asleep in the car on the way home.
