More problems with insurance

I have some depressing news. Isaac's 2nd cochlear implant surgery is scheduled for April 7th. Just today, I got a phone call from the insurance coordinator at CHOP. She said that our primary insurance will not cover a 2nd implant, so we have to rely on the secondary insurance (medical assistance). Apparently Amerihealth Mercy knows that we switched from Gateway (who denied the 2nd implant). They told CHOP that it doesn't matter that they have covered bi-laterals in the past, that PA state medical assistance does not cover bi-laterals no matter who the insurance provider is. I thought this whole mess was taken care of in December. Now we have eleven days to figure this whole thing out. I have come to the conclusion that I need to give it to God. He is in control anyways. This whole situation is dis-heartening. I feel like we are the only family that is going through this insurance battle. Please pray for us.

I will pray for you Shiloh and for your beautiful Isaac. I agree, that it's all in God's hands anyway. But I suppose we don't feel adequate if we don't fight back. Have you tried the Let Them Hear Foundation? I wish I could do something to help.

Shiloh, I'm so sorry you are dealing with this! I bet you are crushed right now.

Keep fighting... he will get his second implant.

He is doing so well Rest assured you are an amazing mom and Isaac is so fortunate to have such a fighter in his corner.

Shiloh,

I'm so sorry this is happening to you. Can you ask for help from Let Them Hear? Also, if Isaac wears the Cochlear brand, I know that Cochlear will advocate for you. I'd check it out.

Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Isaac deserves to have the opportunity to hear with two ears!

Shiloh,

I am so sorry, I am sure it will work out by the 7th. I am sure it is just so upsetting 1.5 weeks away from surgery and this happens. You are right about putting it in God's hands though.

I just spoke to Eilleen yesterday about Kylie's approval for her 2nd one. She said it will take about 3 weeks to hear back.
